In one of those moods…

…where I’m just reflecting on my journey with God. How far we’ve come, how bizarre His love for me is sometimes, how much He has changed my life, and I just thought I’d share my testimony again. And I’d love nothing more than to hear yours. Honestly, tell me what happened, what it was like, I want to hear it. I feel that God wants to encourage a lot of people through this blog tonight.

Quite possibly my greatest comfort…

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever - Hebrews 13:8

You know, life can be so crazy sometimes, and I think we can all say that truthfully but it’s so comforting to know that our God doesn’t change. I mean, we change, all the time, people change, circumstances change, opinions change, laws change, feelings change, even our physically appearances change but  He is timeless, He in all of His perfection, exists outside of time, and He isn’t subject to the passing of time. Time will not change who He is, it will not change His plans for your life, it will not change His love for you. And you can rest secure in that. I know I do.

Sadly, however, the Bible is something that many people respect — but never read. Don’t let this be true of you, but make the Bible part of your life every day. God wants to change your life — and He will, as you open your heart and mind to the truth of His word.

“Free from sin..”

Order my steps in your word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me - Psalm 119:133 (AKJ)

Some of you might know that Jesus saved me from many things, one of them being an addiction to pornography and I get the question all the time about how to be free from sin and obviously the first step is salvation. You’re no where without the cross, you haven’t even begun to know freedom until you encounter the Messiah, there is literally no hope for mankind without the cross. But once you take that step, the best thing you can do is just to get into God’s word, feed on the word like a starving man everyday, overdo it, if you can. But just put yourself in that place where God can speak to you straight from His word everyday, it might not be a a whole chapter or a whole bunch of chapters, sometimes God will give you just one verse or a couple lines that will completely transform your life and the way you think. So this verse, “order my steps…and let not iniquity have dominion over me” - reading His word will make you to not only know His will but it will transform your heart and your mind and make you more obedient to His will, and what is His will? Salvation from sin. The word has filled us with so many lives but reading His word erases those lies, it makes us see ourselves the way He sees us and how does He see us? He sees us as free, free from our sin, free from the guilt, His word tells us that through Him, we can do anything and when we start to really believe that, our sin loses its power over us.

My God, forever and ever, the God of my life

For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide even to the end - Psalm 48:14 (NIV)

God has loved me so faithfully, whilst I have loved Him badly, I can’t begin to recount how many times I’ve said that I would stay with Him until the end only for me to do the very opposite but He hasn’t stopped loving me, His love is as relentless and persistent as it was on the Cross of Calvary. And when I think about starting university next year; the prospect of leaving home, moving away from everything that is familiar and comfortable - I get a little scared. But then I remember, as much as I hate goodbyes and I will have to do them frequently in my life, I will never have to say, “Goodbye, Jesus” or “Bye, Father” and on those lonely nights when all I can do is long for home, I will hear my Father say, “It’s you and me, Anita, forever”.

He is making your life beautiful

Look at your life now, remember all the things people said you’d never be; they said you’d never be happy, you told them you couldn’t live without them but they showed you that they could live without you - to them, you didn’t matter, you weren’t good enough, there was always something you didn’t have, there was always something about yourself that you needed to change. Remember those days when you stopped believing in love, when you stopped believing that anything good could happen to you. But He happened, didn’t he? The King Himself loves you more than anything, The King is set on making your life beautiful - and He’s already begun. He will prove them wrong about you. What they thought, what they think doesn’t matter - it ceased to matter from the moment you let Immanuel through the door.
